Heather L. Brumberg, MD, MPH, is the Director of Neonatal Public Health Programs, Associate Director of the Regional Perinatal Center, and Medical Director of the Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. She is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Clinical Public Health at New York Medical College. Dr. Brumberg is a practicing neonatologist, researcher and through her public health outreach, is working to improve practice and care of premature infants in the Lower Hudson Valley region, which encompasses approximately 23,000 births. She is the current president of the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and previously served on the organization's national Council on Environmental Health. Dr. Brumberg is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research Advocacy Committee and works closely with legislators in Washington, D.C. and Albany to ensure the needs of newborns are addressed at the policy level. Additionally, she is dedicated toward working on regional and state initiatives to improve the use of information technology such as the electronic birth certificate and the New York State Perinatal Data System to increase perinatal quality of care.
Her research interests include electronic cigarette use in pregnancy, preconception health, health policy and perinatal regionalization. Dr. Brumberg has won the National Perinatal Association Research Award and has been selected as one of "America's Top Pediatricians." She has served as an invited lecturer at many academic conferences and children's hospitals across the country.
