RNICU Support Services

Social Workers

An important part of the Regional Neonatal Center patient care team, our social workers are available for consultation and  information about adjusting to your RNICU situation, coordinating financial plans for care, making referrals for equipment and supplies, and discussing other matters of concern identified by you or your baby's staff.  Social workers can be contacted at (914) 493-7511.

Case managers

Our case managers are professional nurses available to assist you or your baby's guardian with safe, appropriate discharge. They work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe seamless discharge. You may contact the case management team at (914) 493- 1356.

Music Therapy

Research shows that music therapy can even decrease length of stay. In the NICU setting music therapy is used individually with each infant to help organize behavior, reduce stress, reduce heart rate, increase feeding, increase oxygen saturation, and facilitate bonding between parent and child.

Music therapy objectives are specific your baby's diagnosis, course of treatment and discharge timeline. Thanks to the generosity of private supporters the Heather on Earth Music Therapy Program is enriching the lives of children and their families at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital daily. If you are interested in Music Therapy for your child you can contact:

Pastoral Care

Clergy of all faiths and denominations are available to you and your family for prayer, sacraments and counseling.

Hospital chaplains work alongside physicians, nurses and others as members of our healing team. The All Faiths Chapel is located on the first floor of the university hospital in the Macy Pavilion and is open 24 hours a day. To request a visit from one of our Chaplains, please call (914) 493-7125.
