14th Annual 100.7 WHUD Radiothon For The Kids Raises $300,000 to Support Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and its Advanced Pediatric Services
The community showed its support for Maria Fareri Children's Hospital - and the seriously ill and injured children under its care – once again by generously donating $300,000 to the hospital during the 100.7 WHUD Radiothon For the Kids.
Thanks to the outpouring of support of 100.7 WHUD listeners throughout the Hudson Valley and contributions from community partners like ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc., Saw Mill Auto Sales and All Aboard Childcare Education Center, donations from this year's fundraiser will support the life-changing and lifesaving care offered by Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, to children from the region and beyond.
"The generosity of our sponsors, WHUD listeners, and the community as a whole is a wonderful demonstration of confidence by the community in the advanced pediatric care provided at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital to children from the Hudson Valley," said Michael Gewitz, M.D., the William Russell McCurdy Physician-in-Chief at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. "As we are the community's resource for complex children's healthcare, events like the 100.7 WHUD Radiothon For the Kids demonstrates our commitment to the region's children and their families, and the commitment of our regional partners to that effort. We are extremely fortunate to live and work in such a thoughtful community."
"The work of Maria Fareri Children's Hospital truly makes such an impactful difference in the Hudson Valley Region and beyond," said Brett Wing, president, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. "It is an honor to continue our support of this wonderful organization, and we are proud to help provide resources for the hospital's dedicated team to continue to deliver the life-changing care to local children and their families during their time of need."
Other Radiothon supporters include Tompkins Mahopac Bank as well as Sleepy Hollow Middle School, which raised over $2,000 in support of Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in honor of students that have received advance care at the hospital.
"100.7 WHUD is proud to be a part of this annual event, not only raise funds for this incredible hospital, but to also make our listeners aware of the work being done at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital to save children's lives," said Steven Petrone, 100.7 WHUD Program Director and Executive Producer of the Radiothon.
At the microphone during the Radiothon are Liam Brady, 7, and his mother, Stephanie. Liam had successful kidney transplant surgery at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital.
