Seven WMCHealth Employees are First Graduates of KeyBank School at Work Program to Promote Career Advancement

Current entry-level employees recently completed an 8-month, 12-module program to provide them with the skills needed to advance in healthcare careers.

Seven employees at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, both members of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), were the first to graduate from a new workforce development program made possible through a $100,000 grant from the KeyBank Foundation. The program is designed to help employees move up the career ladder in the healthcare field.

Current entry-level employees recently completed an 8-month, 12-module program to provide them with the skills needed to advance in healthcare careers. Course topics include mastering communication, patient safety and satisfaction, medical terminology and future planning, among others.

The event was attended by the students' family, friends and coworkers. The graduates plan to pursue careers as social workers, ultrasound technicians, information technology and human resources staff, surgical technicians and registered nurses.

The 2017 KeyBank School at Work (SAW) graduates are: Francis Acheampong, Minerva Boyd, Urcella Brown, Tameka Dawson, Alemni DeJesus, Julia Esprit and Sihara Villanueva. All of the graduates are residents of the Bronx.
