Metabolic Disease Center / Medical Genetics

Pediatric Medical Genetics at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital deals with birth defects, growth problems and abnormal sexual development of children and adolescents. The program is home to one of the few approved Pediatric Metabolic Centers in the state where children with congenital metabolic problems can be diagnosed and treated.

Our Services

Our division offers genetic screening, diagnosis, and counseling services for pediatric and adult patients as well as prenatal testing. We use state-of-the-art technologies to evaluate patients of all ages with suspected genetic problems. In addition, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment is available to patients of all ages, who have a history of a familial disorder, infertility, repeated miscarriages, family history of mental retardation or birth defects and growth disorders.

We provide genetic screening, diagnosis, and counseling services for pediatric and adult patients as well as prenatal testing. Our staff follows a multidisciplinary approach to care and works closely with specialists from pediatrics and obstetrics. Our Genetics Division offers a range of comprehensive services, and is staffed by board-certified professionals in the fields of clinical and molecular genetics, and genetic counseling.
